How to Forward Your Missed Calls in 30 Seconds

Conditional call forwarding sends only the calls you miss somewhere else, while you still answer the ones you want. Here's how to set it up.

The fastest way to stop losing jobs to voicemail isn’t a new phone or a new number. It’s a setting that’s already on your cell, and it takes about thirty seconds.

It’s called conditional call forwarding, and it’s the part most people don’t know about.

Conditional vs. forwarding everything

Regular call forwarding sends every call somewhere else. That’s not what you want — you still want to answer the phone when you can.

Conditional forwarding only kicks in when you don’t pick up: when you’re already on a call, when you let it ring out, or when your phone’s off or out of service. You answer the ones you can. Everything else gets caught instead of dying in voicemail.

On iPhone

iPhone uses your carrier’s forwarding codes. You dial a short code once and it sticks until you turn it off. The common ones are:

  • No answer: dial **61* then the forwarding number then #
  • Busy: **67* then the number then #
  • Unreachable (phone off / no signal): **62* then the number then #

To set all three at once, many carriers accept **004* then the number then #. To turn it all off, dial ##004#.

Heads up: the exact codes depend on your carrier (AT&T and T-Mobile use the codes above; Verizon uses its own, like *71). If a code doesn’t take, your carrier’s app or support line will have the right one — or we’ll just hand you the exact code for your number.

On Android

Android has it built into the dialer:

  1. Open the Phone app and tap the three-dot menu (or your name) → Settings.
  2. Tap CallsCall forwarding.
  3. You’ll see Forward when busy, Forward when unanswered, and Forward when unreachable. Turn those on and enter the number.
  4. Leave Forward all calls off, so you still ring first.

Where the calls should go

The whole point is to forward those missed calls to someone who’ll actually answer them like you would — get the details, flag the emergency, book the job.

That’s what you point them at with Bella. Setup takes about fifteen minutes, you keep your existing number, and you can switch it on and off whenever you want. Book a quick demo and we’ll walk you through it.
